We're in!

It's a good thing there's no sound on this blog otherwise you'd be deafened. I'm very pleased to say it's the builders and I'm certainly not stopping them. They're busy dismantling the inside of the bunkhouse ready to transform it into our cottage - and what a transformation that will be.

This blog post is one that I never expected to be writing and at times the situation still seems unreal.

Oh hello, lovely to see you again. I'm just having a panad whilst going through a few odds and ends in the office but pull up a chair because seeing as you're here I'd just like to set your mind at rest, or maybe not depending on your view point.

An overdue update

Right, that's looking better - I've dusted down the blog and blown away a few cobwebs as I've realised that an update is long overdue.  For me at the moment time is hurtling by, sometimes too fast (I'm currently updating my To Do list with jobs to do in November), yet the progress on site at Plas y Nant is going remarkably slowly.

Going to the chapel

A comment was left on my last post which has resulted in a flurry of e-mails asking about our little chapel and if we intend to have weddings there. Like the main house it needs a fair bit of work doing to it but maybe you'd like to have a peak inside.

A touch of luxury - whatever the weather

The past couple of weeks have been spent in the company of my interior designer surrounded by fabric swatches, wallpaper samples, lighting schemes, sofa designs, casegoods furniture brochures and so much more.  I am now at the stage where if I'm watching a film on television I'm actually homing in on the furniture and fittings and missing the whole storyline. This happened when I built our house, at one point I had to decide on whether to have brickwork or lead around the dormer windows and it seemed that wherever I went dormer windows appeared to leap out at me until the decision was made - very disconcerting.

The best laid plans

Well, 2010 is drawing to a close and I've been looking back through our ideas and plans for Plas y Nant during this past year. Some have been altered dramatically whilst others have just had a few slight tweaks. The quotes are now all back from the builders and our QS is studying these in great detail - maybe a few more tweaks will be required, my calculator is certainly being put to good use!
